AIR PURIFIER

Gate Stool

Japanese Inspired Shop Stool

After much experimentation and at leat 100 thumbnail sketches to get this right, I was able to produce the Gate Stool. It is Inspired by the Shinto Torii Gates. I had many constraints to building this including not having a workshop to build in at the time. I was able to produce this using Pine, using a hardy red mahogany finish, and drywall screws for incredible durability and security. Each strip of wood is about 2 inches thick which makes this a heavy piece of furniture but incredibly satisfying to look at.

After analyzing user feedback about Dyson's air purifier range, I identified three critical areas for improvement in fan design: cleanliness, power, and aesthetics. My redesigned enclosure simplifies cleaning, optimizing user satisfaction and product longevity. By redesigning the fan blades, we boosted airflow and pulling power while maintaining quiet function by using multiple blades.

Embracing biomimetic shapes and a matte metal finish, I've endeavored to elevate the aesthetic appeal while minimizing fingerprint visibility by using easy to clean Acrylic as a enclosure for the fan that provides a safe place to view the inner workings of the purifier and also protects tender fingers from the spinning blades. ABS would compose the base as well as the tube.
